Today will be filled with to-dos. Today will be filled with thoughts. Most of us will work, talk, play, eat, and sleep over the course of the next 24 hours. And right with us, in everything we do, is the God of eternity. He is present with every Christian, every second. He’s there when we wake up, fry an egg for breakfast, speak to our children, look for our keys, drive to work, change a diaper, talk to a friend, wonder about our finances, page through Facebook, muse on Twitter. He’s present with us, and because of the Gospel, He’s present with affection, love, invitation, and grace. Our calling in life, in the midst of all the moments, is to walk with Him. We’re called to commune with Him while we commute and while we communicate. Our seconds and hours should be consciously spent in His presence, and whenever our finite brain can possibly afford it, a few seconds or moments remembering His Word to us, and praying back to Him our praise or needs should be the thread throughout our day. Walking with God is the objective reality of our day–certainly He is with us in our day–let us make it our practice and delight as well.
