If I desire spiritual fruit in my life, I must have spiritual roots in God’s Word.
If I want to love my neighbor, I must read the Word.
If I want to be a peacemaker, I must meditate on the Word.
If I want to be kind, I must absorb the truth of the Word.
If I want to be evangelistic, I must drink deeply of the Word.
If I want to worship God, I must be nourished by the Word.
Without a life that is rooted in the Word, my spiritual fruit will be dry, my spiritual harvest barren, cracked, and fading. Without a life rooted in the Word, I will be an unrooted tree, easily toppled by the winds of temptation and trial. But with roots in the Word, I will be like a tree that is by a stream of water, whose leaf does not wither, who bears fruit in every season.
