Often it is the simple gifts of grace that provide the most unexpected help in moments of temptation and doubt. When the flash and thunder of discouragement rolls through suddenly and the tornadoes of spiritual weariness threaten faith, the small reminders of Divine character are simple enough for the embattled mind to grasp. Like a beam of sunlight scattering the darkness, little beams of truth cut through the lies of the enemy and the flesh.
So, consider the darkness of your current temptations and apply this simple question. Did the sun rise this morning? Consider that blazing sphere of greatness, held in the hand of our Sovereign God. Is it still warming the earth and giving us light? Such a God, who causes such a sun to shine on the righteous and the unrighteous, who has never forgotten a single morning, is keeping watch over us, and insuring new mercies each day. The night comes with consistent vigor, and the sunlight seems to fade. But let us ask this simple question and apply it to our hearts.
