Courage

Courage

Lord, help us to love you more than we love our lives in this world.

Help us to love you more than we love our jobs, our possessions, our reputations, and even our relationships.  Help us to confess your name even under threat of mockery and scorn.  Help us to not only believe you, but say that we believe you, even when believing you brings consequences and loss.  May we gladly stand by your Word as truth even when your Word is considered mythical and contradictory in this culture.  May we confess you as the exclusive Lord and Savior even in face of the pluralism of universalism and intellectual agnosticism.   May we publicly uphold your authority even in the face of hatred of your authoritative Word.  May we love those who despise us because we love you.

Make us a people who are called by your name,  who do not worship two masters, who do not sacrifice your glory for the glory that comes from man.
